Why We Built This Site
Connecticut does not use the usual county-clerk and county-jail model. Superior Court Chief Clerks maintain state trial-court files by Judicial District, Geographical Area, Housing Session, or other location. Connecticut Probate Court chief clerks maintain probate matters by district. Municipal registrars handle marriage and local vital records. The Department of Correction maintains the statewide inmate search, while the State Police Bureau of Identification maintains criminal histories. We organize those distinct routes so a court docket is not confused with a criminal-history report, a marriage certificate is not requested from Superior Court, and a probate file is not sent to a historical county office.

- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
