This Is Not a Government Office. Connecticut Court Records is a private reference site. It cannot retrieve official documents, file paperwork, issue certified copies, resolve cases, or change government records. Official requests must go to the Connecticut court, municipality, or state agency that maintains the record.
Need an Official Document?
Connecticut has no single statewide clerk who can supply every record. Superior Court case files are maintained by Judicial Branch Chief Clerks at the court location assigned to the case. Probate, marriage, corrections, and criminal-history records use separate official systems. Use the following route for the record sought:
- Superior Court case files: use the Connecticut Judicial Branch Case Look-up, identify the court location, and contact that location's Chief Clerk for documents or certification.
- Probate, wills, estates, and trusts: use the Connecticut Probate Court locator and the relevant Probate Court Chief Clerk. See probate records.
- Marriage certificates: contact the town or city vital records registrar or the Connecticut DPH State Vital Records Office. Divorce decrees come only from the granting Superior Court clerk. See marriage and divorce records.
- Inmate and custody information: use the Connecticut Department of Correction Inmate Search. See inmate records.
- Statewide criminal histories: contact the State Police Bureau of Identification. A repository history is not the same as a Superior Court case file.
- Warrants and local agency records: use the assigned court, responsible law-enforcement agency, or local office shown through the 27-area Connecticut directory.
- Other local execution: choose the matching historical county, city, or town in the record-area directory, then confirm the responsible government office before requesting a copy.
